MANNY WEINTRAUB
PRINCIPAL & portfolio manager
Joined Cannell & Spears in 2020.
Manny is a Principal and Portfolio Manager with over 30 years of experience in the investment industry. He specializes in helping clients through all phases of their financial life cycles as they encounter obstacles and opportunities.
He believes that using a portfolio of individually selected stocks as the centerpiece of a financial plan generally allows clients to manage their risk and ensure that investments are consistent with their values. His favorite investments are so-called “coffee-can stocks.” These investments are chosen with a long-term perspective, aiming to preserve and grow value over time. He also looks to invest part of a client's portfolio in the shares of companies with superior business models that are currently out of favor, ideally for something that “might” go wrong. He has invested through market volatility caused by the first Iraq War of 1990, the Peso Crisis of 1994, the Asian Crisis of 1998, the Dot.Com meltdown of 2000, the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, the Great Financial Crisis of 2008, and the inflation debacle of 2022. While no investment strategy guarantees results, he prioritizes a focus on preserving value and managing risk over the long term.
Prior to joining the Firm, Manny was the president and founder of Integre Asset Management LLC, a domestic equity manager that aimed to invest in growing companies at a reasonable price. He also was a managing director at Neuberger Berman, where he co-managed the group that invested for Roy Neuberger, among others.
Manny received a BA with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the board of The Atlantic Theater and North Country School Camp Treetops. When not working, he is an avid meditator and chef.
